TREK THE VOTE
For Fair Elections
Trek the Vote for Fair Elections is a grassroots, fan-driven volunteer drive.
Our mission is to connect our fellow American Star Trek fans with non-partisan groups working to ensure a fair and equitable electoral process in our communities, and to carry the principles and work ethic we've learned from Star Trek along for the ride.

We are currently working with partners to develop opportunities for the 2022 midterm election. You can sign up to get updates by clicking "join Starfleet" and filling out the form below.

POSSIBLE MISSIONS
We offer missions for Starfleet Officers with a variety of capabilities and requirements and we are adding more opportunities all the time.
PROFESSIONAL POLL WORKER
Starfleet officers assigned to this posting will serve inside of a polling place; checking voters in, handing them their ballots, and answering questions related to the process of voting. Masks will be required.
INFORMATION ACCURACY OFFICER
Experts anticipate an unprecedented amount of disinformation intended to prevent people from voting this election cycle. Starfleet Officers assigned to information accuracy roles may conduct proactive nonpartisan voter outreach or monitor social media to identify and report disinformation.
VOTER RIGHTS & SAFETY OFFICER
Voting should be safe, secure, and accessible. Starfleet Officers assigned to these postings will identify and report voter intimidation at the polls, ensure polling places have proper PPE and are wheelchair accessible, monitor line length, and answer questions from voters who are having trouble understanding their rights.
VOTER MORALE OFFICER
Many voters will face long, uncomfortable lines and require food, water, and bathroom breaks. Starfleet Officers assigned to these postings will provide sustenance to voters and hold their place in line when they need to use the restroom.
FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Field service technicians set up and operate the equipment used for checking in voters and marking and casting ballots. Starfleet officers posted to this assignment will attend one half-day training in late October and then work one fifteen-hour day on November 3.
FULL COUNT RESERVE SQUAD
The results of this election will not likely be known for several days, or even weeks after 11/3 because so many people are voting by mail. All officers will receive a communique from Starfleet Command with civic engagement assignments in the days and weeks after 11/3 to ensure every ballot is counted.
GET THE TRANSITION INTEGRITY REPORT
The non-partisan Transition Integrity Project ran a series of scenario-based exercises aimed at identifying potential risks to the integrity of the November 3, 2020 election and transition process.

This report summarizes their findings. It is recommended reading for every Starfleet officer.
TREK THE VOTE STORE
All proceeds from sales of Trek the Vote merchandise are divided equally and donated to our election integrity partners.
VIDEO ARCHIVE
Here are our great Trek the Vote videos from 2020!
"THE CREW AND I NEED YOUR HELP"
"There's been an outbreak of novel coronavirus on Earth and Starfleet is tracking troubling disruptions to democracy itself."

Our original Trek the Vote for Fair Elections video starring Gates McFadden, Armin Shimerman, John Billingsley, Wil Wheaton, and Chase Masterson continues to be a fan favorite.
"WE NEED YOU TO MAKE A PLAN."
In our follow up video - starring Jeri Ryan, Bob Picardo, and Terry Farrell - we make it clear that, we need every Starfleet officer to prepare for a protracted post-election period in which there is no clear winner.

Our job: Protect the process, stand up for objective reality, and insist that every eligible ballot cast be counted.

FREQUENT QUERIES
ARE YOU FOR ANY CANDIDATES? ARE YOU AFFILIATED WITH ANY "TREK THE VOTE" FUNDRAISER?
We are not affiliated with any partisan initiatives which may happen to have the same name.

Each individual member of the Federation Council is free to express their own opinions about everyone and everything on the ballot, but Trek the Vote for Fair Elections is a non-partisan initiative.

That means our only interest is to have an election in which every eligible American gets to vote easily and safely and each vote is scrupulously counted.
WHY DO YOU SAY THERE WILL BE MISSION OPPORTUNITIES AFTER ELECTION DAY?
There are many steps between ballots being cast and an election being certified. Some of our partners monitor the post-election processes that govern how provisional ballots are adjudicated. They also do things like ensuring that proper security protocols are being observed when ballots are being transported and handled.

Officers assigned to these roles always work in pairs or teams and must pledge to pursue their concerns regardless of which party might benefit. They also agree not to behave in a manner that may make elections workers feel unsafe.
MOST OF YOUR ACTORS IN 2020 WERE WHITE. WHAT IS YOUR PLAN TO MAKE THE 2022 CAST MORE DIVERSE?
As always, we welcome involvement from all Trek actors who want to participate. We’re thrilled with the talented and beloved roster of actors who volunteered with us in 2020.
When it comes to racial diversity, the sad reality is that, prior to Discovery, Trek was a very white show. There were only seven Black series regulars and five other series regulars of color in the first five series to air combined.
Trek the Vote for Fair elections is an all-volunteer initiative, and that includes the actors. In 2022, we have intensified our outreach to actors of color and we're pleased to say that we've made some progress. We're looking forward to announcing the 2022 cast soon!
ARE YOU AN OFFICIAL STAR TREK PROJECT?
Star Trek is the intellectual property of CBS.
We are a grassroots network of Trek fans, actors, and behind-the-scenes professionals and not affiliated with CBS.
IT LOOKS LIKE MOST OF YOUR FEDERATION COUNCIL ARE LEFT-LEANING. ARE CONSERVATIVES WELCOME?
Absolutely. Trek the Vote for Fair Elections adheres to the Prime Directive. We set our desired outcomes to one side and focus on ensuring a fair and equitable election.

We do however require participants to affirm that the 2020 election was adjudicated fairly and to reject conspiracy theories to the contrary. Our democracy does not have time to entertain falsehoods around settled election outcomes and we are unwilling to debate this issue further among our ranks.
